How do I give my wedding gifts to charity and thank the gift-giver?
My wedding was 2 weeks ago. We had mentioned in the invitation cards the following " Please let your good wishes or donations to your favorite charity be your only gifts to us" . Some guests honored our request. Others brought gifts cash gift cards boxed gifts anyways which we accepted because we thought it would be rude to turn away their gifts. I want to find a way to route all the gifts to charitable causes. We are going to donate all the cash cheques. I am not sure what to do with the gift cards. Most of the boxed gift dont have receipts so not sure what to do with them any ideas? . And how should I word my thank you notes to those who gave gifts inspite of our request not to? I want to let them know that we gave their cash gift to charity. One more thing Some of the gifts dont have a & 039 from& 039 label. So that means someone gave gifts but we dont know who. How do I tactfully word thank you notes when I do not know whether this person gave a gift or not?Thank you very much for all suggestions
What is the Italian legend behind the giving of chicken pitchers for wedding gifts?
I know the gift symbolizes good luck in the marriage, but I can& 039 t remember the legend.
Is it wrong to sell wedding gifts that I don't like or don't use?
I received a lot of valuable wedding presents like crystals and collectible china and lots of expensive decorative things that I& 039 m not very fond of and don& 039 t use.I want to sell it at a second hand store and use the money to buy things I really need and will use for the house.Everybody is making me feel guilty for wanting to do this. Like I am not being grateful. But I don& 039 t relish the idea of keeping them in storage where they will never see the light of day.I don& 039 t want to recycle and give them out as gifts as I dread & 039 accidents& 039 and being found out.Would you care if somebody sold away your precious wedding gift for a fraction of the price to buy something else?
How can I register for wedding gifts for a brand (i.e. Land's End) that doesn't have a registry on their site?
We& 039 d like to register for one item of theirs, but can& 039 t find a method to do so..
Second wedding gifts?
A friend of mine is attending her godson& 039 s second wedding. She thinks it is the bride& 039 s second wedding as well. She gave her godson $100 for his first wedding a couple of years ago, and was wondering if she should give less this 2nd time around. What do you think would be appropriate? She has not met the new bride yet, so no feelings about her either way. She actually didn& 039 t care much for the first bride.
Our wedding gifts were sent to our old address (and accepted by the new tenants)! How do we get them back?
My husband and I registered at Crate and Barrel last June, and moved in August. We got married in November and are now finding out from several guests that they purchased things from our registry that we never received. I updated the registry with our new address, and requested that they take the old address off of it, however, I now see that the old address wasn& 039 t deleted after all, and not only that, but it& 039 s the first one to show up when guests buy gifts. I assume this is due to the fact that most couples keep separate addresses up until the wedding, but I am sick over it. I am not nearly as worried about the gifts themselve, but the fact that I cannot get the appropriate thank you cards to family and friends. We had a second registry at Macy& 039 s, which many people went through, so I didn& 039 t notice really much of a lack in gifts, and rather in a down economy thought nothing of people not bringing something. I suppose the most frustrating part of this is that the two women who live in our old townhouse have been accepting these gifts, no questions asked...THESE ARE ALL ADDRESSED TO MY HUSBAND AND I Wrong on so many levels, nevertheless, I woke up this morning unable to fall back asleep over the fact that someone could be using our stuff Wedding gifts nonetheless, and I cannot send personal thank yous without them. PLEASE HELP My husband thinks we should go over there and ask them point blank if they received anything addressed to us, and if they say no to tell them that the police may be by to ask about it. I don& 039 t want to cause a confrontation, although we may need to be direct.Any help from someone who has dealt with this would be much appreciated Thanks.
